Have you gotten those Xbox 360 error and decided there is nothing more that can be done for that Xbox? Don't kick that Xbox 360 out the door just yet, as some of those errors can be fixed. The two most common errors are "the Red Ring of Death and the E74 error.
Most of these errors appear when you do a system reboot. Let me explain: When you are playing your game, the error starts by freezing your screen then you try to reboot and you get an error message.
Xbox errors and the Red ring of Death Error: This error is caused by a GPU fail. It means the Graphics processing Unit is not working properly. Several factors may cause this failure. The thermal paste could be coming off the chip causing it to loosen on the MB. Another reason it fails is because the GPU starts to touch another chip on the motherboard causing the fail. A common fix to this problem is called the towel trick, and many people use this trick but shouldn't because it heats up the system and causes damage to the chip or the motherboard which is irreparable. The best thing you can do really is to learn to fox those Xbox 360 errors yourself or send it in to Microsoft.
The E74 Xbox 360 errors are easier to fix than the red ring of death, but is signaled by only one red light instead of three. There are only three things that can cause this error and they can easily be fixed. The first reason may be just because the A/V cable is either loose or inserted incorrectly. You should disconnect it and wipe the metal part off with a dry soft cloth, and then put it back into place. You are lucky if this is the cause of the problem as this is the easiest way to fix it.
It could also be caused by the loosening of the ANA/HANA chip or the malfunctioning of the GPU chip. Your Xbox warranty does not cover this failure and the only option you have is to either learn to fix it yourself or send it in to Microsoft and pay over $100 for the repair.
Thankfully, you can learn to take care of these errors yourself at a much lower cost. All you have to do is follow the repair steps and you are well on your way to getting those Xbox 360 errors fixed.
